A Quick Thank You Note To Mr. Obama

Mr. Obama,

Although I am Canadian, I realize that America has long stood as a symbol for the rest of the world representing “liberty and justice for all.” Thank you so much for finally dispelling this obvious fraud. Your country is the joke behind the world’s furtive snickering… and we’re always thankful for a good laugh!

You may wonder why I’ve chosen to address you as “Mr. Obama” as opposed to “President Obama.” Someone holding the office of President of the United States would have to be a leader, but since you have demonstrated that you have no leadership skills whatsoever, I’ve concluded that you must not really be the President. Thank you so much for showing the world in no uncertain terms that you truly wield no significant power. You are as impotent as a eunuch serving in the true King’s chamber.

I suppose I could have called you “Mr. Change,” as that was the buzzword from your presidential campaign. But, here again, I must sincerely thank you for demonstrating to the world that real change will not– and ultimately cannot– come from our political “leaders.” Here, I think, Gandhi got it right when he told the world that “you must be the change you wish to see in the world.” I know you just want to wave your magic wand– oh wait… your wand doesn’t work anymore (see the paragraph above about the eunuch in the King’s chamber). Well, thanks anyway for showing us all how meaningless the words “hope” and “change” really are when they’re spoken by a man without any balls at all.

You know, I used to sometimes get annoyed with the arrogance of many American tourists– struttin’ around like they owned the world. But now, thanks to you and your dismally failed economic policies, some of those same American tourists (the ones who still have money to travel with) are so much more humble. Now instead of demanding that our Canadian goods and services be valued in US dollars, they sheepishly proffer their Federal Reserve notes asking quietly “Do you still accept these?” Yes, for the time being, we still do.

So thank you from the depths of my heart Mr. Obama. No, you have not made the world a better place in any way, but you have shown the world that it is up to us to affect the changes we desire. You have demonstrated your own insignificance and irrelevance in such a profound way that only the most ignorant among us will continue to look to you and your political brethren for… well… anything.

Now please just get out of the way!

Oh cmon man, cut the guy some slack…I’m not a huge supporter but change doesn’t happen overnight. Especially since Obama’s been handed the greatest economic sack of shit in the last almost decade from his predecessors. You know the 4 letter moronic father-son duo who shall forever remain heroes in the republican American mindset. It took the better part of 20 years if not longer for those idiots and the puppeteers that manoeuvered their mindless mischief to create the mess that Obama has inherited. What is one person who faces the opposition that he does in congress/the senate supposed to accomplish in the matter of 3 or so years when faced with such a mess of global proportions. Yes many of us thought he would be the saviour, given that he seems to have a conscious and morals but nothing happens overnight especially since his hands are somewhat bound by the system that he operates within. Cmon, look how long it took Jr and Sr and all the mastermind fuck ups behind their regimes to concoct and then fuck things up royally, 20 yrs is generous, it probably started back in Regan’s time. I don’t believe anyone can fix the situation Obama has been faced with in a presidential term or two even. So ya Ghandhi and whoever may have accomplished some pretty extreme things in their day but given the times and place and situation, Obama is still alive (surprisingly to some) and has a chance to continue to try and make sense of all the shit. Maybe even progress somewhat for the remainder of his term despite all the opposition around him in his almost defunct 2 party system and maybe even hand the torch off eventually to someone who will not go back in the direction of some of his predecessors and further the quest to bring economic stability, moral stability, environmental awareness and even a somewhat higher consciousness to our neighbors to the South and get things back on track. I don’t believe it’s Obama, it’s the system and it’s a system that’s set up in a way that takes time to undermine and make significant change. Revolution maybe but that has many forms.

You’re kind of emphasizing my point. No, one man cannot be expected to “fix” the system, no matter how well intentioned. I was just SINCERELY thanking Mr. Obama for demonstrating this truism to his mind-numb citizenry. The solutions won’t come from government; they never have.
