The Daily Forest Report January 25, 2014 The Seeds of Mysterious Futures
by nielskunze on January 25, 2014
Sometimes I just don’t know… and I’m okay with that.
We’re all patiently seated in a classroom. The teacher is at the front of the class… polishing the blackboard… polishing and scrubbing until nary a trace of chalk remains. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be any chalk anywhere in the classroom– chalk is so yesterday. Eventually the blackboard is as clean as the day it was created, like a framed void, empty of all smug conclusions resting in hindsight.
Suddenly, the teacher too, is gone! There’s no authority to guide us. Some are nervous; some are frightened; some stare at their hands… and smile. They are the lights, eager to shine into the void anew, beyond any dead chalk outlines, looking forward, moving forward into a freedom so pristine it was never seen even once in a backward glance…
Too cryptic? Well, how ’bout this:
What the hell is that? It was found directly on the path… again– always on the path! Tiny organs and a little bit of blood? Perhaps, but that just poses deeper mysteries…
As I examined the one more closely, Sitka ate the other. I wish she could tell me how it tasted. Did it taste like organ meat? How did it get here? And why was it left? A gift? For us? Or the whole world?
I am unable to devise a scenario in my mind to explain this “encounter.” There is nothing in the past from which I can draw upon for a suitable explanation. The storyteller is without a plausible narrative!
“And suddenly, without precedent or foreshadowing, the seeds of a wholly mysterious future appeared on the Path! The travellers scooped them up, ingesting the one, examining the other… and found no correlation to memory or knowledge therein. And with their very next steps they journeyed beyond the frozen landscape of all prior expectation…”
This is where we are; how would you like to proceed?
