The Daily Forest Report January 20, 2014 The Threat of Infection and Pandemic!

by nielskunze on January 20, 2014

And quietly, the Sun slipped from beneath the heavy and restrictive blankets of Capricorn into the light and breezy morn of an Aquarius Sunday… Ah…

I don’t suppose there’s any logical constraint preventing these messages from being issued directly from Sitka or myself. After all, we are Forest critters too… both having been properly initiated into the Forest Life– me by Wasp, and Sitka by Mountain Lion (glamour hog!).

Sitka has been running much the same message for a few weeks already. Mostly it’s been for me, but she wishes to reach a wider audience too. I just hope that her vet isn’t one of my regular readers… or I could soon be in for a severe scolding.

Her surgeries were completed last Monday the 13th. By Thursday already Sitka was feeling the need to get out of the house. I took her that afternoon for an hour without the protective cone around her head… but still firmly on the leash for a little walk in the woods. She was very grateful, and at the conclusion of that brief outing she put the cone back on her head herself as soon as we got back to the truck. Smart dog!

By the next day she wasn’t having anymore of that leash nonsense! Clearly she was back to feeling fully invincible as we reacquainted ourselves with the regular route. She was just so damned happy!

It’s still another four days until we can go and get the stitches around her eyes removed. Hopefully the vet won’t see this post of his patient pushing the limits of unbounded enthusiasm!

Sitka’s message has lately been one of exuberant joy… and it is definitely infectious! It’s impossible to watch her antics out in the forest without bursting out laughing time and again. Perhaps it is just in a puppy’s true nature to be this ridiculous dispenser of continual mirth. Sitka seems to be particularly adept at it.

Anyway, needless to say that Sitka is recovering well and the Forest Reports have fully resumed… and let the pandemic of joy truly begin… here in the New World, the New Life… among the untried possibilities!
