The Daily Forest Report September 25, 2014 Impulsed From Within

Despite my last-minute efforts, I couldn’t rig up a proper microphone for my minidisk player/recorder. Therefore, we were relying solely upon the audio from my video camera which was set up across the fire. The fire crackles throughout, the dog’s tags jingle occasionally, and when the quite substantial wind gusts, it disrupts the audio levels… but to those who were there, it was perfectly sweet!
Here’s a link to the lyrics… in case you might be wondering what I was actually ‘singing.’
I didn’t manage to play the entire set list I had prepared for the occasion. I managed a dozen songs or so before we all got ‘hit by the mushroom truck’ which rendered further playing rather difficult if not impossible. It was however a fantastic night in a spectacular spot!
This is the view of our camp taken from the south side of the Mesa.
And this is the sun just beginning to rise the next morning over the sleeping ‘hippie’ Darren– whom you might remember from the first season of the Amazing Race Canada.
Morning coffee is an essential part of any successful camping trip. I roast my own beans. These were Bolivian (organic, of course), roasted just two days before. I hand grind my beans in my grandmother’s manual coffee grinder– the red thing beside the bodum (French press). The water we used was of course Dutch Creek glacier water. Good coffee!
Here’s me a few minutes after sunrise enjoying a cup.
Sitka kept watch most of the time, keeping us safe from the two gay bulls roaming nearby. (They are never seen in the company of the lady-cowfolk, preferring each other’s company instead.)
All-in-all it felt very worthwhile and satisfying to make the overnight excursion. Throughout my life, and especially in the last year and a half, the Forest has been an essential friend. I wanted to do something in appreciation, but what do you get for a Forest who already has everything it needs? The only gift of any value I could come up with was the gift of my original songs. I think it went over well. At one point well into the night, we heard a call from up the river valley west of us… which sounded something like a short singular blast on a didgeridoo. It was very weird but definitely cool nevertheless! (Maybe Bigsquatch??)
Astrologically, we’re in a very active time right now… with the equinox, the Libra new moon, to be followed by a blood moon and lunar eclipse in two weeks, to be followed by a solar eclipse October 23rd. Nearly everyone I know is also reporting very heavy and intense energetic sensations and adjustments now. I think we are all being impulsed from within to become more proactive and engaging with the natural world and her rhythms.
Here, in the lunar month of Libra, we’re all trying to find the perfect balance. I believe that it is achieved through temperance. 2014, according to the timeline I published not long ago, is the year for Temperance, the 14th major arcana of the traditional tarot. A thoroughly excellent explanation of Temperance is given in the following article, channeled and posted today by Marlene Swetlishoff.
